Ghost Pavilion is the pseudonym of L.A.-based psych/indie rock artist James Higgs (ex – Spanish Prisoners), and definitely an artist you need to know for 2022. His debut self-titled LP, drops this Friday, October 14th, 2022, and was mastered by GRAMMY-nominated engineer John Baldwin (The White Stripes, Iggy Pop, Sly Stone). The new album has James deepening the path he has carved as a DIY artist, with thought-provoking songs, couched inside bright moments of Indie jams, getting out the bad mojo that life imposes on us.
Americana UK debuts the new single from Moon Shine, “I Tried to Keep on Loving You,” noting its “shimmery take on the country end of Americana, bringing to mind Emmylou Harris or say, for a modern comparison, Courtney Marie Andrews.”
Moon Shine (aka Angie Glasscock) is a Brooklyn based singer-songwriter whose debut album ‘The Land in Between‘ will be hitting the streets on November 11th. The name Moon Shine was chosen because, Angie explains, “The Moon is a female symbol, the name ‘Moon Shine’ refers to women shining.” And it’s certainly true that this is a shimmery take on the country end of Americana, bringing to mind the approach of Emmylou Harris or say, for a more modern comparison, Courtney Marie Andrews.
mxdwn weighs in on new singles from Lazerbeak – “Rockers” & “Slumps” – calling them “meditative, grooving electronic tracks that build uplifting melodies atop a laid-back beat-driven foundation.”
Minneapolis producer and Doomtree Records CEO & centerpiece Lazerbeak is preparing to release his new LP, Lava Bangers II, the sequel to his acclaimed 2012 beat tape Lava Bangers. Recently, Lazerbeak shared two brand new singles off of the album, “Rockers” and “Slumps” which are a meditative, grooving electronic tracks that builds uplifting melodies atop a laid-back beat driven foundation, with a transcendent gospel-organ driven centerpiece, and a downtempo, melodic indie-electronica cut that blends percussive synthesizers with layers of electronic texture and a thumping four-on-the-floor beat, respectively.
Americana UK debuts Lauren Scott-Phillips video for her new single “Handsome Woman”
“Immediately engaging. It’s rich and warm and the production allows Scott-Phillips’ clear voice and heartfelt words to be the focus. Her words really are disarmingly beautiful… reflecting happiness and contentment and genuine, deeply-held love.”

Americana UK reviews the new album from Matthew Check, Without a Throne, noting, “There’s a definite feel of Jackson Brown and Warren Zevon… lively and energetic … classy pedal steel playing.”
Now sober, the second song – ‘Old Wooden Floor’ – looks at the harsh reality of drinking, but again this is an upbeat song with some classy pedal steel playing. Check’s bluegrass background surfaces on ‘Pretty Mama’ and he stays close to home on ‘The Way That You Are’, which was written by his brother Jonathan and is a lovely tale of unrequited love – again enhanced by some superb ivory tinkling. Jonathan’s a talented sibling as another of his songs is included – ‘The Shape It Appears’ – a country waltz about being able to see an era clearly only after it’s over – amazingly its author was only a teenager when he penned it.
