Young Antiques are at it again. Longtime friends and songwriting cohorts Blake Rainey and Blake Parris have convened with drummer John Speaks to craft Another Risk Of The Heart (Southern Lovers Recording Company), a new eight-song LP that’s teeming with phantasmal Southern power pop and rock ‘n’ roll storytelling.
Another Risk Of The Heart is the Atlanta trio’s first offering in nearly a decade, and it’s what Rainey calls “a love letter to the band.” Songs with titles such as “Euclid Creeper,” “Armies In The Alley,” and “’92” reaffirm the power and allure of the group’s hook-laden legacy. Guest appearances from Atlanta-rooted voices such as Kelly Hogan, Chris Lopez of the Rock*A*Teens, and Tom Cheshire, expand the group’s repertoire, while keeping each song planted firmly in the Atlanta music mythos. Rainey took a few minutes to talk more about the album.

Vents Magazine premieres Americana duo Gypsy Outfit’s new single, “Musician’s Story”
We are pleased to team up with Gypsy Outfit for the premiere of their new single “Musician’s Story,” a track that paints divergent pictures of life on the road, evoking a feeling of deep loneliness on an infinite and cosmic highway.
Kate Lovely (vocals) comments, “On the surface, it’s a fun little ditty. I think people will fall in love with the harmonies and the tune. But on a deeper level, I hope someone out there relates with the duality of loneliness and belonging that travel can bring. It’s a perspective. We were all on that wavelength in the studio, and I think that’s how it became our band fave—when you TRULY feel it, you PLAY like it—and it translated almost magically on the record.”
On the song, Brandon Maddox (vocals & guitar) adds, “Musicians Story” is a song about a misunderstood boy who finds peace and belonging in traveling, and I really relate to this character I created. A lifetime of road trips really was the inspiration behind it. We took a trip to Santa Rosa, New Mexico recently, slept in hammocks in the cold rain—the whole nine yards, and it really brought a new light to “skipping town and sleeping in my clothes.”

AmericanaUK premieres new track “Immortal” from Nashville Americana artist Laura Rabell
It’s safe to say that Laura Rabell is acquainted with the machinations of Momus, the personification of satire and mockery in Greek myth. For he surely had her marked down for an encounter with irony when she announced in 2019 that her debut album would be entitled ‘Immortal‘. But we’ll let her explain. She laughs darkly at the recollection: “I guess you shouldn’t call the Titanic unsinkable. I guess you shouldn’t call your first album ‘Immortal’. You’re just asking for it.” It, in this case, was the cancer diagnosis that Rabell received three weeks later. The album release was pushed back, but with Laura Rabell’s successful treatment it’s ready to go this year. READ MORE…
