Man Man have been pretty quiet for a while now, but frontman Honus Honus is now doing the solo thing and releasing Use Your Delusion later this month which he funded with a via PledgeMusic. We’ve got the premiere of “The Stripper Has No Navel,” which basically picks up where Man Man left off. Like in that band, Honus Honus is making impossible-to-pigeonhole weirdo rock songs that rarely sound much like anyone else. Putting out a 17-song album that isn’t packed with skits or interludes is both ballsy and ambitious; you run the risk of boring the listener with lackluster filler, but North By North keep it consistently exciting with an interesting concept and intriguing songwriting that always feels fresh and theatric. Punknews shares North by North’s new track, “Silver Tooth and Shadowplay”

Today, Punknews is pleased to debut the new song by North By North.

“Silver Tooth and Shadowplay” is a merging of fringe cultures. Rooted in mid-60s garage rock, the band swings forward like the Sonics. But then, they take the acid-bend of the 60s rockers and cloak the whole thing in a bit of blackness, adding some straight up goth keyboards and cobwebs to the tunes. Mother Church Pew sits down with Hollis Brown for interview during AmericanaFest 2016

“We got started in a garage in Queens, New York in 2009,” laughs Mike Montali of roots rock outfit Hollis Brown as we relaxed on a bench outside of the American Legion in East Nashville during this year’s AmericanaFest. Montali and fellow band member Jonathan Bonilla met in high school, and began to write music. “We said, ‘well, now we have songs, we need to get a band together’,” he continues. “We started sneaking into clubs in New York to play, started packing out rooms, ventured to play in places like Philadelphia and D.C.
