Paste Magazine premieres Gringo Star’s “World of Spin,” the first track to emerge from the band’s upcoming 7-inch (out Oct. 17 on dizzybird records)

Atlanta-based brothers Nick and Pete Furgiuele, better known as Gringo Star, are releasing two new songs. Their new 7-inch single, “Long Time Gone” b/w “World of Spin,” is out Oct. 17 on newcomer label dizzybird records.

As with 2013’s Floating Out to See, Gringo Star recorded the new songs in Pete’s home studio. This time, however, the brothers handled every single instrument and vocal themselves. Nick sings lead on the A-side, “Long Time Gone,” with Pete handling the opposite’s “World of Spin.”

Gringo Star’s new single and an LP from friends Heaters will be dizzybird records’ first releases. Brian Hoekstra, co-founder of dizzybird records, calls Gringo Star’s sound infectious and timeless. “These two sides could’ve come out at any point in the last 50 years,” Hoekstra says. LISTEN HERE…

A foursome smitten with all things West Coast (all born and raised there), City Tribe’s sound is saturated with golden, guitar-driven melodies and salty sweet harmonies. Dubbed “the Vampire Weekend for the West Coast,” the delicate entwining vocals are easily reminiscent of Fleet Foxes at times. Although the way the easygoing arrangement ultimately pans out is a formula unique to City Tribe, feet firmly planted in the sand. “Bury Me” is a late afternoon beach trip, as you’re lazing on a blanket and dozing off right around three minutes in only to be roused by the sounds of your favorite place in the world, feeling totally at ease. Baeblemusic premieres Tesla Rossa’s new single “Vacation”

Tesla Rossa might not be a household name yet, but the Nashville trio has us hooked with their gritty southern rock sound, which reminds us a little of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, but with more power and passion behind every riff and lyric sung.

The band’s new single, “Vacation,” is adventurous, raw, and ready to simmer in speakers for those who gravitate toward rock music you can feel to the bone.

“Vacation” is the first single from our new album, but it was actually conceived a few years back inside a tiny sheet-metal rehearsal space in the ghetto of East Nashville,” Jason Denton says. “The song was born out of an awkward, angular guitar riff that me and our drummer Nathan were jamming on late at night. At the time, I was in a tiff with an ex girlfriendduring the song’s intro, our guitar player Ryan is mimicking a voicemail she left me. In the end, I think the song retains its gritty, energetic center but channels an era when rock was a bit more professional.” LISTEN HERE…

PlanetMosh gives The Wans’ new album He Said, She Said 5 out of 5 stars

The Wans, from Nashville Tennessee, are a three piece rock and roll band formed only a few years ago. I have been following them for over a year now after stumbling across them through social media. In such a short space of time The Wans have already supported bands such asPearl Jam, Beck and The Black Lips. As vocalist/guitarist Simon Kerr comes from my home country Northern Ireland, Derry to be exact, I have been eager to hear this album for a very long time and I‘m happy to say it does not fail to impress.

Their debut album “He Said She Said” grabs you by the balls right from the off! Opening track “Never Win” starts off lively. With a pounding driving rhythm, frantic riffs and melodies, explicit lyrics and with Simon Kerr’s smooth higher register vocals it certainly sounds fresh, vibrant and this continues straight through the whole album. It never lets up. “You’re Wasting” has a deep heavy sound. The drums are huge fromMark Petaccia and works tightly with Thomas Bragg to provide a commanding, pounding, driving rhythm with chunky riffs from Kerr. This is awesome. READ MORE…

No Country For New Nashville on Willie and the Giant: “Quality rock & roll done the way it should be.”

Just a week and a half ago, we had the distinct pleasure of hosting indie rock/soul musicians Willie and the Giant at our weekly showcase over at Acme Feed and Seed, but it turns out that’s not the only thing this talented bunch of musicians have been up to recently. In fact, the group just entered the release cycle for the upcoming self-titled debut effort, and on Tuesday, September 9th, dropped two new singles: “Ain’t Gonna Wait” and “Poor Boy”. The tracks are, for lack of a better word, phenomenal, and really pay testament to the musicality the four players possess. The tracks are very engaging and rich, and harken back to the era of tape and live cuts, which makes sense seeing as they were cut in Nashville’s own Welcome to 1979. The Wans talk to Cameo about about awkward situations and musical inspirations

2014 has been a good year for Nashville rock and roll group The Wans. Their new album “He Said, She Said” was released today. Produced by Dave Cobb (Rival Sons, Jason Isbell) and mixed by Vance Powell (Jack White, Arctic Monkeys), the albums channels both the classic rock of Led Zeppelin and the grunge of ’90s bands like Soundgarden, but with a modern twist.
