San Francisco multi/artist Rebecca Mimiaga AKA: LOUIZA, will release her new album Swim At Night on April 5th. The full-length was produced by James Riotto, known for his work with The Mountain Goats, tUnE-yArDs, and Ezra Furman at John Vanderslice’s Tiny Telephone Studios in Oakland, (St. Vincent, Spoon, The Mountain Goats). Ahead of the album’s release, LOUIZA, has shared the new single “Brilhante.” A song which we are throughly enjoying, and reminds us of tUnE-yArDs, with a bit of M.I.A. and Joni Mitchell thrown in, for a fine combination.

David Quinn Talks and Premieres “Grassy Trails” With The Bluegrass Situation
‘Grassy Trails’ was a lot of fun to record. It was right in everyone’s wheelhouse stylistically. Dave Roe and Jimmy Lester really were the perfect guys for this track. They set the pace for the rhythm and Jon Estes came in and laid down some nice pedal steel. If you listen close, Jimmy Lester plays my favorite bell pattern in that second chorus. This song has taken a few different shapes since I wrote it but it is one I always play at every show. I know it’s cliché to say this but I have loved trains since I was a kid and always dreamt about riding the rails. I use to go out and sit next to the tracks when I was younger and just watch the trains go by up close. That’s really where the song came from. I grew up reading Jack Kerouac and other beat writers and hearing about their adventures on trains. Those stories always stuck with me and created a feeling I have been chasing ever since. It seemed fit to put it on this record, Wanderin’ Fool.” — David Quinn

That music scene has thrown its arms around GoldenOak, and, in return, the band is helping to draw more attention to it with their excellent new songs. READ MORE…
GQ India profiles indie/hip-hop artist Abhi the Nomad
Kanye West’s outrageous 2004 track “The New Workout Plan” introduced us to many things: Tracee Ellis Ross’ comic timing; the idea of parody in rap videos at a time when gangs and rivalries ran amok; and Ye’s outsized production talent. Turns out, we’ve also got Ye to thank for the eclectic and bold musical stylings of Abhi the Nomad, the Indian-origin, Austin-based rapper whose Spotify ratings are off the hook these days. Rolling Stone Features Kyle Daniel’s Live Video for “God Bless America (Damn Rock n Roll)”
On his new EP What’s There to Say?, Kyle Daniel blends country with Southern rock, enlivening a genre hybrid that can often feel overcooked with his vulnerable yet vital songs about heartbreaks (the title track) and the opioid epidemic (“Born to Lose”). But he also makes time to cut loose and play loud, like in the rousing “God Bless America (Damn Rock n Roll).”
