Atlanta’s Book Club will be releasing their new album, One-Way Moon, on February 17, 2015 via the Cottage Recording Co. (Small Houses) & Bear Kids Recordings. The band plays modern pastoral pop music that can trace a straight line back to the simple, unaffected roots of American story-song.

Bloody-Disgusting has teamed up with Nashville, TN rock band Tesla Rossa to bring you the exclusive music video premiere for “Mythicaluv”, which comes from the band’s recently released self-titled album. The video compliments the hazy, almost dreamlike feel of the song by weaving a recurring storyline that changes minutely but noticeably with each retelling.
Singer/guitarist Jason Denton, who co-directed the video, explains:
Myself and [co-director] Steve Voss loaded a 2000-watt spotlight into the back of a van for this shoot, and set out down some dark and winding country roads to film the projection. The bits with the car and the fog were shot on set with the band at Silver Point Studios in our hometown of Nashville, Tenn.
The dark and semi-quirky nature of ‘Mythicaluv’ really complements an evil loop. A vague recurring dream with a mysterious precision, trying to figure itself out. A mythical creature setting out to find you. Sam Raimi and David Lynch were big inspirations on the tone and pacing of the video.

Veteran singer, songwriter and musician Jesse Harris has just announced the release of new album No Wrong No Right, out Feb. 10 on Dangerbird Records.
The Grammy-winning Harris had his breakthrough in 2003, having written Norah Jones’ first and biggest hit “Don’t Know Why.” He subsequently has had a vibrant solo career of his own, along the way writing for and collaborating with renowned artists such as Bright Eyes, Cat Power, Feist, M. Ward, Melody Gardot, Mike Patton, John Zorn, Solomon Burke, Willie Nelson and Emmylou Harris.
On No Wrong No Right—Harris’ 13th solo album—he drew inspiration from Neil Young’s approach on After the Goldrush. “Some of that record was done with Crazy Horse, and it’s a rock record,” Harris explains, “but then you also have these hushed acoustic folk songs, and it keeps shifting back and forth between the two distinct moods. I always loved the way that worked, so I started there, but with No Wrong No Right, I also added a third element.”
The three elements Harris speaks of are an inspired set of full-band tunes recorded with guitarist Will Graefe and drummer Jeremy Gustin of experimental duo Star Rover; a more subdued, acoustic-anchored series of duets with guitar virtuoso Julian Lage; and a trio of evocative instrumental tracks.
The album initially grew out of Harris’ discovery of Star Rover and the friendship and musical chemistry that developed between them last winter. “I fell in love with their band,” Harris says. “I was sort of a groupie, checking out their gigs all the time. One day they invited me over to their loft to play, and it felt great from the first song. Which inspired me to write a bunch more songs.
“Will and Jeremy, musically, are adventurous and free, and at the same time completely supportive of the song. They love to work out arrangements, but they play with a lot of looseness and expression. It’s so hard to find that perfect combination—either people don’t want to rehearse, and just play all over the songs, or they’re too rehearsed and there’s no spontaneity. As a singer and songwriter, I feel like they support the music, but at the same time completely challenge it.”
Glide is premiering the dreamy new track off No Wrong, No Right titled “River of Stars” (below). With his haunting voice and intricate folk, Jesse Harris’ solo work now rivals his most significant collaborations.
“I took the title “River of Stars” from a line in a book I was reading by Alejandro Jodorowsky,” explains Harris to Glide. “The lyrics are about how even the most subtle mental changes can have hugely beneficial effects on your life. Jodorowsky seemed equally, if not more, obsessed with his personal journey as his career journey, which was very appealing to me. I definitely made some some mental changes in my life after that, though not through meditation as Jodorowsky does in the book.” LISTEN HERE…
Georgia-based collective Book Club have shared “The Way It Seems,” a new track off their forthcoming sophomore full-length One-Way Moon. Recorded in Atlanta’s Glow in the Dark Studios with Grammy-nominated producer Matt Goldman, the album follows Book Club’s 2011 debut, Ghost, and their subsequent 2013 EP,Shapes on the Water. The band’s down-home, Americana- and country-infused style of pop shines through on the new project, which was tracked completely live in the studio. Frontman and songwriter Robbie Horlick explained of the organic recording process, “we were about the freshness of it, and it felt good. We were a band, and we played the songs—no smoke, no mirrors.”

Jesse Harris, the writer of Norah Jones’ song Don’t Know Why, winning a Grammy for the effort, has a new album out in February, No Wrong No Right from Jesse Harris With Star Rover.
Included in the album is an instrumental based on the work of Japanese manga and anime creator and director Hayao Miyazaki.
“I got the flu really bad earlier this year, and I was pretty much laid up at home in this fevered state,” Jesse says. “Every night I watched a different Miyazaki film. One night, I was on the couch in this delirious state with my guitar, and I was playing this riff over and over again for an hour, and I turned it into an instrumental. In honor of my flu and all of his movies that I’d been watching, I named it ‘Miyazaki.’” LISTEN HERE…
Voli isn’t exactly what you’d call a conventional hip hop artist. His new single, “Burn Everything”, pulled from his forthcoming LP The Wall features the much loved band Misun and together they turn up the heat for an ecstatic, turbo-charged track that scorches the ground it travels on. While classic art-and-prog-rock elements appear on his new record The Wall, and he namechecks the legendary band Pink Floyd in his song “DNA”, the album’s title wasn’t inspired by the band. “It’s actually from a Will Smith interview I saw with Charlie Rose,” Voli explains. “As children, Will and his brother were tasked with building a wall for their father’s shop. At first, they were overwhelmed, but they continued to lay the bricks each day for almost two years. They finished it through dedication—one brick at a time.”
The Wall holds many shades of meaning for the Jersey-born (and now L.A.-based) Voli. In part, it’s about his journey as an artist, about growing slowly, carefully, and taking the time to build something that lasts. “I am creating a foundation for myself—musically, professionally, personally,” Voli says. “Each piece of ourselves is one brick in that wall. And it’s not always the easiest thing to hold it together, to find that mortar, to find that glue.” LISTEN HERE…
