Rossi credits ‘A Sweet Thing’ as being a cathartic emission, a coping strategy for confronting his past. Focusing on the aftermath of the divorce the songs reverberate with feeling. ‘Better’ is a cautionary tale, a man looking in the mirror at himself “I’m broken up, that isn’t an excuse to be an asshole after a few………get your shit together, be better”.

Revealing a glimpse into the self-awareness that he had been lacking for so long, Rossi delivers a thoughtful lyric with the degree of melancholy and sparse accompaniment that the song deserves.

Nicholas Mudd grew up in Lexington, Kentucky, surrounded by horse country and lush farmland, and  Mudd found himself immersed in country, southern rock, and traditional folk music. It was evident from a young age that he had inherited his grandfather’s musical interests. Leonard  Mudd, now 95, always had a collection of guitars, mandolins, fiddles, dulcimers, and banjos sprinkled around his home, and still manages to make music from time to time.

If tough knocks are the necessary path to meaningful music then D.L. Rossi is probably feeling he’s racked up enough now, and maybe it’s time for life to let him get on with the songwriting part of the equation.  Having started in bands at a young age, joining in with his older brothers, D.L. Rossi decided to pursue a career in music, initially behind his drum set.  The intervention of (successfully treated) cancer  encouraged him to kick up his pace a bit, and in his late twenties he released a debut album which rather shocked his social circle

Roses & Cigarettes are a duo made up of singer Jenny Pagliaro and guitarist Angela Petrilli who hail from Los Angeles.  They are all set to release their second album ‘Echoes and Silence’ on the 22nd of this month and ‘Bones on the Ground‘ is the first single from the album.   It’s a song that Jenny describes as being “about that person that just won’t get out of your life. No matter how many times you have kicked them out they keep coming back around.”

Michael McArthur is no stranger to the Americana and Folk world. He’s been releasing singles commercially since 2016, however, has never released anything other than that. Thankfully, McArthur has finally graced us with his full first length release. The album title originates from the idea that you can’t have green without rain and that you must withstand hard times to be rewarded with the good. This concept really sets you up for the journey that the album takes you on. McArthur teamed up with producer Ryan Freeland (Ray Lamontagne, Bonnie Raitt). The pair recorded this album at United Recording Studios, Los Angeles, in the same room that both Frank Sinatra and Elvis once recorded some of their hit songs.
