This is the title track from Katie Jo’s new album – and it is glorious. Some songs are so perfect you can’t help but wonder how they happened. Americana UK shares Katie Jo’s train-travel-inspired music video for her train-beat-driven new single “How Soon”
Americana UK weighs in on June Star’s latest single, “Seven Pieces,” calling it “a perfect electric folk-rock arrangement which may have you thinking of The Jayhawks.”
June Star goes under the name Andrew Grimm in the real, and he’s a mightily productive practitioner of Americana music. ‘Seven Pieces‘ is taken off his upcoming album ‘How We See it Now,’ which is due out April 16th. It marks his eleventh album in just six years. And not just quantity, there’s quality involved too as ‘Seven Pieces‘ demonstrates – multiple layers of messages appear in the lyrics, whilst the tune is carried by a perfect electric folk-rock arrangement which may have you thinking of The Jayhawks.
Americana UK just premiered the latest track from Kurt Deemer, “Rain,” calling it “an anthemic and uplifting rocker.”
The new release by the Kurt Deemer Band is unlike most Covid albums you may have heard, predominantly becuase the “band” part has not been tuned down at all. Not that we’ve anything against scratchy guitar and a plaintive vocal but some song require, nay demand, a more robust approach. And that’s what you’ll find on ‘World Upside Down‘, the new album of driving ahead roots-rock that the Kurt Deemer Band is releasing on March 5th.
Americana UK premieres “Time Capsules,” the new single from Jon LaDeau & Mayteana Morales
“Time Capsules” is a song of longing and regret. There’s the helplessness of leaving things undone (“I wish I had done the things I’d planned on before they were lost far away,” sings Mayteana Morales), but it’s all too late (“those times are gone…long gone…because I didn’t say what I meant”).
It’s a song with a timeless sound, crafted by singer/songwriter Jon LaDeau (best known as guitarist with The National Reserve) and vocalist Mayteana Morales (formerly of soul band Pimps of Joytime) with the able assistance of Daptone stalwart Sam Merrick on drums and bassist Justin Kimmel (Antibalas, Toubab Krewe).
Americana UK debuts the latest single + video from Emily Moment, “By the Sea,” calling it “confident and elegant”
The video for ‘By the Sea’ uses the clever visual device of an old-fashioned View Master to create an aching sense of nostalgia, perfectly in keeping with the song. The single is taken from ‘The Party’s Over’, Emily Moment’s long-awaited new album, which comes a full ten years after her acclaimed debut, ‘Never Enough‘. The song features Moment’s graceful, melodic vocal, lyrics full of arresting images and displays her excellent songcraft.
