Cowboys & Indians Magazine debuts the lead single from E.Z. Shakes, “Making Mistakes”

The latest single from E.Z. Shakes just sounds big. It wrestles with major spiritual issues with a stomping, twangy, richly reverb-soaked musical backdrop that could double as the soundtrack to a psychedelic spaghetti western filmed under an endless desert sky.

That’s rather fitting because the momentum behind singer-songwriter Zach Seibert’s project shows no sign of slowing — and the band itself has grown as well, adding guitarist John Furr, drummer Stan Gardner, and bassist Jim Taylor to the original lineup of Seibert and pedal steel wiz Todd T. Hicks.

Cowboys & Indians Magazine Premieres Sofia Talvik’s “Paws of a Bear”

The song: “Paws of a Bear” is the title track off Swedish singer-songwriter Sofia Talvik’s upcoming album, available September 27.

About the artist: Growing up in Sweden, Talvik always made music that was in line with her Scandinavian heritage. But after a 16-month, 37-state long tour in the United States, her sound slowly developed into a unique Nordic-Americana hybrid.

Following the release of her 2005 debut album, Blue Moon, and her sophomore album, Streets of Dreams, Talvik began to get noticed. When her breakout album, Big Sky Country, dropped in 2015, it garnered rave reviews from New York Music Daily, which hailed it as “one of the most distinctively memorable Americana albums of recent years.” Now Talvik’s following up with the highly anticipated album Paws of a Bear.

About the artist: Before Josh Rennie-Hynes made the move from Australia to Nashville to focus solely on his music career, he was a part of the Ahern Brothers. “The duo’s vocal harmonies and careworn guitars shiver with timeless feeling,” Rolling Stone said. “A mesmerizing contemporary recording; restrained, pithy and pure.” Striking out on his own, Rennie-Hynes is now channeling that talent into his upcoming solo album, Patterns, a compilation of songs that document his transition to a new hometown and the personal growth that followed.

Since the release of her 2018 debut album, References Pt. 1, Malin Pettersen has been on a roll. The “Norwegian country sensation” (Paste) has been performing at some of Norway’s largest festivals and she won a Spellemannpris (the Norwegian Grammy) for her record. Now she’s traveled to Nashville for more recording.
