In September, singer-songwriter Judy Blank will make history by becoming the first Dutch artist ever to play AmericanaFest. In 2014 she released her piano-driven debut album, When The Storm Hits, which earned rave reviews and quickly positioned her as an international artist to watch. Since then, she’s been making a name for herself playing all over the world, from surf festivals somewhere in the south of France to open mic nights in Louisiana, to performances at major music festivals including Pinkpop, the Lowlands, Songbird Festival and North Sea Jazz in Rotterdam.

Glide Magazine Premieres a Brand New Track from King Corduroy
A modern songwriter inspired by the swampy grit, juke-joint swagger, and countrified twang of old-school American roots music,King Corduroy has been chasing his singular muse for years, making his own kind of “cosmic southern soul music” along the way. It’s a sound anchored by a genuine reverence for the good stuff — including Texas electric blues, Memphis soul, New Orleans voodoo funk, the Tulsa groove and Mississippi Delta blues — and updated to suit the unique experience of a storyteller, multi-instrumentalist, wandering troubadour, and larger-than-life frontman who’s lived everywhere from the Bible Belt to the Mexican Baja. Those travels play a central role on King Corduroy’s fourth release, Avalon Ave. (out 8/16), whose five songs match King Corduroy’s colorful appearance — equal parts 1970s-era Leon Russell, Southern rock bluesman, and hippie mystic — with soulful performances and real-life stories sourced from his own rambles.
EG Vines announces new LP, shares new single “The Victim” at Glide Magazine
Glide is thrilled to premiere “The Victim” (below) an inspirational anthem that mixes passionate guitar rock and a punctuating chorus. Vines mixes shades of early Tom Petty, U2 and modern touches of War on Drugs to create a knockout social commentary.
“’The Victim’ is the first track off of Family Business giving it the daunting task of previewing the rest of the record. I did my best to take what the universe gave me and write songs without thinking about their final packaging, so there is a variety of lyrical content and stylistic influences you’ll experience throughout the record. That diversity is what I think I’m most proud of with this album. Lyrically, ‘The Victim’ is simply about victim mentality. It’s easy to slip into that mindset and you have to realize that you are in control of your own outcomes in order to get through it.
Glide Magazine Premieres Shawn Colvin’s New Music Video for “Shotgun Down the Avalanche”
Over the last few decades, Americana has evolved to encompass a myriad of sounds rooted in folk, country, blues, gospel, and rock & roll. And while fans and critics may never agree on exactly how to define it, one thing is certain: It’s a sound borne of our need to express all the hurt and joy bursting from our hearts. Three-time Grammy winner Shawn Colvin stopped the industry in its tracks with her arresting 1989 debut, Steady On. The following spring, Colvin took home the GRAMMY for Best Contemporary Folk Album, legitimizing a burgeoning genre that’s grown ever stronger and richer with time. As the record’s 30th anniversary looms, the trailblazing singer and songwriter readies a truly mesmerizing acoustic reinvention of her breakthrough release, lacing up each track with fresh layers of warmth, charm, and wisdom.
Sammy Kay announces new LP at Glide Magazine, premieres first track “Sweet Cecillia”
Life works in a delicate balance, a push and pull of tragedy and hope. Singer-songwriter Sammy Kay teeters with acrobatic ease between both facets of the human condition across the entirety of his new record. A storybook by nature, civil/WAR depicts a smorgasbord of characters — many of them weary and downtrodden from addiction, mental health, death, suicide and heartache.
Kay, whose voice is unmistakably shattering, has played with or onstage alongside such bands as The Gaslight Anthem, Mumford & Sons, American Aquarium and The Bouncing Souls. His impressive resume has certainly not diluted the craft itself; even after he wanted to walk away from the industry altogether, the songs inside his head drew him back in again.
Glide Magazine Premieres Erisy Watt’s new single, “Light”
Erisy Watt is a Nashville-raised folk artist based in Portland, OR. Consistently referred to as “the next-in-line to the likes of Joni Mitchell and Norah Jones, her music is an exercise in what contemporary folk today sounds like at its peak.”
Inspired by both her time spent studying and working along the central coast of California and in remote regions of Thailand, Indonesia, and Nepal, Watt’s music invites listeners to rejoice in the beauty and freedom of wilder places. With several US and international tours over the past years, Watt’s shared the stage with acclaimed artists John Craigie, Hurray for the Riff Raff, Mr. Little Jeans, Shook Twins, Kuinka, Dustbowl Revival, Royal Jelly Jive, T Sisters and Rainbow Girls and is now gearing up to release her debut full-length album on July 26th, 2019.
