Matthew Check’s attraction to the rootsy, honest pop/folk/introspective rock of the mid-late ‘70s takes hold on his forthcoming record, Without a Throne (out 9/30). The resulting hybrid of that sound—with his authentic vocals, somewhere between Jakob Dylan and the Waterboys’ Mike Scott—dominates and energizes the album’s approach.
Raised Rowdy
More praise for David Quinn, who’s back with another single, “Ride On,” debuting exclusively at Raised Rowdy
Following the 2019 release of his album Wanderin’ Fool, Indiana native David Quinn found himself ready to let go of everything that was holding him down. Luckily for us, that release came in the form of Letting Go, his new full-length album that’s set to release on October 23. In advance of that release date, Quinn and his team have graciously allowed us to premiere one of the singles from the project, “Ride On,” just a little early.
Raised Rowdy shares Craig Gerdes’ new “modern outlaw anthem” “If Guitars Were Guns”
In anticipation of his upcoming album Tough as Nails, Illinois native Craig Gerdes is set to release his next single, a cover of Roger Alan Wade’s “If Guitars Were Guns” on March 10. Originally hailing from a tiny farm town with a population of about 300 people, Gerdes has moved on to blaze his own trails across America’s highways over the last few years with performances at the same shows as Tyler Childers, Paul Cauthen, Cody Jinks, and Aaron Lewis, among others. Raised Rowdy Premieres David Quinn’s “Gap Tooth Girl”
The thrill of the unknown can be exhilarating. Untethered by tradition, Americana singer-songwriter David Quinn hit the open road to find himself and rediscover his love of music. The highway swept out from under his feet, weaving through the mountains of Colorado down to the sweltering heat of Texas and then back out west to the coast of California, collecting images and bits of songwriting for what would become his debut album. Wanderin’ Fool is very much indebted to what he reckons was his quarter-life crisis, an adventure that not only reaffirmed his passion but gave him a new lease on life.
Raised Rowdy Gives Kyle Daniel’s “God Bless America” a Glowing Review
Kyle Daniel vaulted himself onto the scene in 2018 with his self-titled debut EP. Not only did it make our mid-year and year end lists of EP’s, it gained accolades from Rolling Stone on their “10 Best EPs of 2018 & 10 Artists You Need To Know“.
We were blown away by Kyle’s album upon our first listen and then came our first live show. To say Kyle, bandleader Seth Renthrow and crew captivated us would be a disservice to the level of attention they command on stage. You simply cannot look away. That is why we have been so excited for the March 15th release of their follow up EP What’s There to Say.
