Surviving the Golden Age premieres “Puget Sound” by Bret Busch
Surviving the Golden Age Premiere
Atlanta music scene veteran Bret Busch is preparing to release his new album, Pills Lace & Confetti on July 14th. Surviving the Golden Age is excited to premiere the latest single “Puget Sound.” With a hand-clapped beat and funk synths, the track is danceable as all get-out. While it is reminiscent of bands like Miami Horror or Escort, the track does deliver some surprises. Busch explains “we were looking to record a simple and catchy party song. We added the weird vocal harmony, quirky guitar solos, and percussion accents in the hopes of delivering some unexpected complexity into the mix.” READ MORE…

Surviving the Golden Age premieres “Low (Cracker Cover)” by Sara Rachele
Surviving the Golden Age Premiere
Cracker‘s “Low” is an early 90s classic, mixing folk, angst and rock in one solid mixture. Surviving the Golden Age is excited to premiere americana/indie-folk artist Sara Rachele‘s cover of the track. By slowing the song down, the verses almost sound like Bob Dylan‘s “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” and the crescendoing choruses have a Mazzy Star feel with Rachele’s reverbed vocals. It’s a beautiful cover that has completely different emotions than the original. READ MORE…

Surviving the Golden Age streams lead single “Of Fisticuffs” by The Dears
Surviving the Golden Age Streams
The Dears have been pumping out albums for the better part of two decades. They just announced their seventh full-length album, Times Infinity Volume Two. The lead single, “Of Fisticuffs,” is a wall-of-sound with jangly guitars, pianos, and drums. In the middle of the loudness is Murray Lightburn’s vocals–calm and cool. The catchy track shows a band that still hasn’t lost their sense of urgency. READ MORE…

Surviving the Golden Age premieres new Bearstronaut video, “Gold”
Boston-based ’80s dance-pop revivalists Bearstronaut released their latest album, Telecoast in June. Surviving the Golden Age is excited to premiere the video for the album’s latest single “Gold.” Hearkening back to the early days of music videos, “Gold” could have very well been shot in the late 70s for a band hanging on to the dying embers of disco. The video’s warm tones mimics the song’s danceable, tropical yacht rock feel. So break out the silk shirts and enjoy the video! READ MORE…

Adrian Cohen shares new single “Stonehenge” at Surviving the Golden Age
16-year-old Adrian Cohen is preparing to release his sophomore album, Sticks and Stones on June 24th. Surviving the Golden Age is excited to premiere his new single “Stonehenge.” The song is his insouciant explanation of how Stonehenge was built over casio pianos and synth orchestra flourishes. Its hard not to listen to the track and think of artists like They Might Be Giants or Atom and His Package. READ MORE…
