Saving Country Music
Saving Country Music reviews David Quinn’s sophomore LP, Letting Go, calling it, “That sort of sweaty, gritty, hard country sound that you crave.”
Taking Quinn’s vision and running with it are producers Mike Stankiewicz and Micah Hulscher—the latter of which is best known as the keyboard player for Margo Price. Hulscher also rope-and-doped fellow Pricetag band members Dillon Napier (drums) and Jamie Davis (guitar) into the session, and then brought in some top notch ringers in “Smokin’” Brett Resnick known for laying down steel licks for Kelsey Waldon and now Kacey Musgraves, and the immortal Laur Joamets of Sturgill Simpson and now Drivin’ & Cryin’ fame.
David Quinn lands Saving Country Music’s Most Anticipated Country & Roots Albums for Last of 2020…
David Quinn impressed us with his debut album Wanderin’ Fool in 2019, and now he’s back with a new one that utilizes Laur Joamets on guitar (Sturgill Simpson, Drivin N Cryin), as well as steel guitar player Smokin’ Brett Resnick, and members of Margo Price’s backing band in a new record, Letting Go, due out October 23.
Saving Country Music Lists Alan Barnosky as One of Most Anticipated Albums of 2020
If you’re wondering what to look forward to hearing in country and Americana music in early 2020, let this be your guide. Here’s all the information Saving Country Music has been able to compile on the most anticipated upcoming releases, along with a more extensive catalog of releases to have on your radar, and the always juicy “rumor mill” where uncorroborated information on new releases dwells.
Usually when we get around to rounding up the most anticipated upcoming releases for a given time period, it’s presented with all manner of boisterous hyperbole about what were about to enjoy in a busy release cycle. But if we’re being honest, the first portion of 2020 at the moment appears a little thin. This is the byproduct of Q3 and early Q4 of 2019 being so incredibly stacked full of releases, we’re still trying to unravel all the quality albums and listen to everything. Inevitably, that bumper crop of releases was going to result in a dearth at some point in the future, and that is what you can expect in the coming months.
David Quinn’s “Wanderin’ Fool” Gets “1 & 1/2 Guns Up” from Saving Country Music
Like the mother find from an excavation effort into the burned out ruins of a vintage recording studio, exhumed from a rusted shut 2-inch reel-to-reel tape canister containing some lost and forgotten country music classic, David Quinn’s Wanderin’ Fool sets you back some 70 years in time as soon as it’s cued up on your listening device of choice. Whether your question is where country music came from, or where it has gone, the answer is contained in this record.
Saving Country Music Highlights David Quinn, Adds “Crying Shame” to Playlist
Two songs from just released records that also need to be on your radar include “Cryin’ Shame” by David Quinn, who’s your fix if you like that Luke Bell, Pat Reedy-style of old school country . . .
